About Us

The Thetford Players group was established in the spring of 2010 and sought to fill the void left by the former Thetford Music and Drama Society and the Moonlighters theatre group in the town. The successful community play, "Citizen of the World", delivered as part of the Thomas Paine 200th anniversary celebrations in 2009, showed a real enthusiasm for drama in the town, both from budding thespians and an appreciative audience. This momentum was carried on with the hugely successful "Dad's Army Comes Home" production in June 2010. A number of the participants in these productions were then poised to carry the baton on with the Thetford Players production of "Dick Whittington" in January 2011.

How can I get involved?

The Thetford Players welcome input from all sections of the community and will seek to provide opportunities for all those wishing to be involved. So, whether you have been involved in theatre before, or just want to have at go at something different - why not get in touch? Even if you do not want to tread the boards there are many ways of helping out on a production including, front of house, costumes, lighting, sound, make-up, props, sets, backstage management, programme production, publicity, etc. Membership of the Thetford Players costs just £12 per year (the membership year runs from the 1st September until the 31st August), please see here for a downloadable membership form.

Due to a shortage of adult males, the group is particularly keen to hear from men who wish to perform on stage.
